ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO II

| ARC60205 |

REFLECTION

In Design Studio II, we explore the techniques of diagrammatic abstraction, by deriving the essence or main ideas from a project or building. We were also exposed on the techniques of interpreting and analyzing our site context, and knowing the relationship between the site and design, and how it relates back to complement the user's needs.

PROJECT 1:
Famous People, Familiar Faces- Diagrammatic Abstraction
PROJECT 2:
Introduction to Site Analysis + Pavilion
PROJECT 3:
Weekend Getwaway

Throughout this module, it gave me a platform to not only explore, but at the same time knowing what I'm lacking of and really push myself to achieve more things. It taught me how every aspect in the project, regardless is the boards, or the models, it is important to execute it in the way where it expresses the message we want to convey. Its all about an impression and showing the depth of our knowledge in each and every project.

Another things that I've gained from this process, is to not limit yourself  in your comfort zone. In architecture, it really requires a lot of exposure with the things around us, exposure of new knowledge, and all of these can only be achieve by more readings, and also site visit. It is the only way we could expand our horizon in the architectural world, and knowing how to apply the things we see and learn into our work, having our own interpretations of a subject and becoming inspiration to the things we create.

One of the most valuable lesson that I've got away throughout this module is that, always make every work like yours. Its not about making things complex in order to achieve high standards, its not about wanting to create something thinking that it might be something special knowing that you don't like it at all. Its about believing in what you believe, and translating those believe into your ideas, making the design unique by your very own interpretations and ideas.
