DESIGN COMMUNICATION

This module is an introduction to the basic drawings that we will be widely exposed in our future career. The whole module is done by hands-on drawings. We started off with a basic sketching exercise to have a grasp of the different techniques and skills to best capture the object or view. We were also introduced to ortographic drawings such as floor plans, elevation drawings, section drawings, axonometric drawings and also perspective drawings. Unlike during the foundation year we were asked to draw random objects, but this time we were given a site, which is the Cooper Residence by Charles Gwathmey. We had to analyze the site and translating it into these various ortographic drawings. For the final project is an intergration with design studio 1. We use all the skills that we've learned through out this module and apply it in our final project in the design studio 1, which is our own hideout.

REFLECTION
Throughout this module, it was a great experience to get exposed to hands-on technical drawing. It is an important phase as we were introduced to various architectural symbols and also drawings. In addition, the projects that was given to us was a great practice for us to accquire the technical skills in producing orthographic drawings. The introduction to different drawing tools and also the useof technical pen was something different for us. By carrying out these projects, it gave me a better understanding with space and also the ability to visualize better. It proved how important drawings are in allowing people to have a better vision of what the actual thing might be.It shows me how drawings actually contain so many important information that was needed to complete a project. Its all about precision, detail, and measurements when it comes to the accuracy of the drawings.

This module gave me a new prospect of how drawings plays its role in making our work more complete. With drawings, it was able to let people to have a better sense of space and most importantly a better visualization of our work.
