CHAM ZHENG CHEE

Architecture encapsulates a broad aspect of consideration, in terms of its need in a community, its contextual relevance, its spatial considerations, its treatment towards engaging with the public realm, with holistic consideration whether architecture counters or shapes a particular issue and objective. The balance to ensure all considerations are being evaluated and given appropriate resolution, the existence of architecture will be able to achieve so much within a community, ultimately connect people and anchored to its place, introducing a new perspective or experience. But, where do you draw the line?  This project, spatial planning was my primary exploration in design, in hopes its spatial configuration make sense to the context as well as having my intention at the back of my mind. The biggest learning outcome from this project was knowing how spaces could be more elaborate and optimize, understanding how its configuration matters to not only create spaces for experience, but how efficient it is and how it comes together as a whole. I believed in my design intentions when I began with the project, but its fundamental study of whether it is the community's need, or the addition aspect of the market and possibility of textile that could offer, and precedent studies were lacking to justify my ideas, or my intended approaches. It made me realize how important these studies are to enrich architectural design, and justify thoughts and ideas giving way the a broader exploration.
