ARCHITECTURE DESIGN STUDIO IV
| ARC60206 |

BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
| BLD61403 |
In this module, we were introduced to a new building system called the Industrialized Building system (IBS). Thus, in the first project, we did some case study about some buildings that consist application of an IBS, to further understand how the system works. The following project is to look into facade systems, and apply it to our final design studio work. We researched multiple case study on different facade system, understanding how its connection and mechanism work, also the structure that facilitates the facade system, such as the floor and roof systems. We eventually proposed a design that applies the knowledge of facade system into our design work.

REFLECTION

This module gave me more insight regarding IBS, and how it could be an option in any future design consideration, acknowledging the beneficial of IBS being incorporated to future buildings and construction, optimizing building efficiency. Design innovations can be incorporated into IBS in order to enhance the building quality holistically. The module also dwells into how technological advancement has innovate various facade treatment, giving various possibilities to represent its specific architecture impressions, as well as connect the architecture with its public realm. It was very enlightening to expand our knowledge regarding these two main aspects, contribute to a wider possibility when it comes to design exploration, as well combining practicality in design.
