BUILDING CONSTRUCTION I

| BLD60303 |

In this module, we were given a chance to go to site, and get to know the construction processes for each architecture elements, such as the roof, the walls, the doors and windows and more. After obtaining the knowledge, we were also required to apply these knowledge into our own design, to ensure that we really understood what we were learning.

PROJECT 1:
Experiencing Construction
PROJECT 2:
Construction Detail and Specification

REFLECTION

In order to have a better understanding of this module, the best way to learn is only by exposing ourselves with the real life experience of how the construction processes was carried out. Its when we observe and undergo these processes on site, all the knowledge regarding building construction that we've learnt only make sense to us. The on site exposure gave me a better view of how each elements works. It made me realized that all of the knowledge we learnt from this module is fundamental to us, in order to know how to create not just solely an aesthetically pleasing building, but also focuses on how to create a structurally efficient building.

One of the things I've learnt from this module is that we shall not take for granted of the building construction as it not just only helps in the support of building, but it is only when we know the building construction, it can also help us derive design, providing us a clearer perspective the relationship between construction and each design intentions, achieving the design that we desire without neglecting a good structural design as well.
